Become a Linden Place Volunteer
Docents/Tour Guides
Do you have the gift of the gab? Want to share your love of history?
Linden Place Mansion is looking for individuals interested in becoming
tour guides in Bristol’s “great house”. Prospective docents need not
have experience and will be provided with historical information and
guidelines designed to help in the presentation of the story of Linden
Place Museum to visitors. Tour guides will have the opportunity to
learn about Bristol history, 19th century living, and the history of
Linden Place’s occupants, the DeWolf & Colt families. Becoming a
tour guide is a gradual, at-your-own-pace process, a great way to learn
about Bristol and RI history and an enjoyable way to meet new people in a
relaxed, informal environment. Students are welcome and encouraged to
become docents to fulfill credits and community service requirements.
Gift Shop/Office Volunteers
Volunteers are needed in the gift shop where duties include greeting and
assisting visitors, answering questions about tours and upcoming
events, answering the telephone, ringing up purchases and other light
office work, as needed. Becoming a Linden Place volunteer is a great
way to get involved, give back to the community and meet new people. No
experience necessary and training is provided. Scheduling is flexible
and both weekday and weekend shifts are available.
Garden Volunteers
Do you enjoy being outdoors and gardening? Linden Place is looking for
volunteers to help tend the gardens from early spring through late fall.
Garden volunteers are welcome to work as a group or on their own at
their convenience. Just 1-2 hours a week has a big impact on the
historic grounds. Mornings, after school or work, weekends are all on
option. Tasks include planting, watering, weeding and pruning. Green
thumbs optional and no experience necessary!
